We Will Brick You

While at World Festival, we participated in a talent show. What did we do? We parodied "We Will Rock You" to "We will Brick You". So here's the lyrics:

Buddy you're a team, make a robot
Running on the mat gonna get some big points someday
You're a LEGO buildin' ace
With professional grace
Running your robot all over the place

We will, we will, brick you
We will, we will, brick you

Buddy young man, smart man
You're gonna solve a problem in the world someday
Ya innovating ace
With professional grace
Sharing your solution all over the place

We will, we will, brick you
(Build it now)
We will, we will, brick you

Buddy you're a fun team, great team
Workin' with your minds gonna be an engineer someday
You're a teamwork ace
With professional grace
Wavin' your banner all over the place

We will, we will, brick you
(Building!)
We will, we will, brick you
(Everybody!) We will, we will, brick you
We will, we will, brick you
(alll-right)

Day 3 and 4!

Sorry guys, forgot to post for day 3, but there was a good reason. More on that in a minute.

On day 3 we ran all our official runs. Our scores were 195, 95 and 175. So not our best runs, but we were happy with what happened. We got a semi-call back for programming, but they came to our booth :-P.  Calvin and Josh ran the first two runs, and Tim and I ran the last one. We also got interviewed by a Representative of LEGO Education about our robot. Then that night we went to a special VIP concert with . . . . . . . . .Will I Am and the Black Eyed Peas! They rocked out the stadium, leaving us singing "Tonight's gunna be a good night" all the way home.

Day 4. The big day! We woke up and left for the convention center. We had a tour of the FTC and FRC pits, and watched some matches. Everyone who will be close to aging out are wanting to go into one or the other next year. Half of us went to see the St. Louis Arch, and the other half just hung out. (They are going to see it tomorrow) The half that went to to the Arch had an awesome lunch. We then went to the closing ceremony aaaaaaaaannnnnnnd . . . . .

2ND PLACE OVERALL PRESENTATION AWARD!
According to the judges, our music radio skit was the second best presentation in the whole world!!!

Thanks everyone who have been following our blog. We will try to get some pictures up on here, or on our facebook page. This was an awesome year for LEGO In Paradise, and was an awesome way to go out with a bang! This is not the end of our robotics life, a few of our team members are looking into Code Red Robotics, a FRC team based near us.
I (Jarren) am done with FLL, but I hope to support these guys with everything they do, and hope to get into some type of Robotics team.

-Jarren, and entire LIP Team.

PS. We would like to give a shout out to Team Genius - Girls Exploring New Ideas Using Science. We met them out of complete coincidence, and became good friends.

Day 2!

today was awesome!! We had 2 practice runs and did all of our judging! All the judging went great, but of course the robot is messing up..... :/ but we've made several changes that *should* help. We had 2 practice robot runs today, and tomorrow are the 3 real runs! Check out NASA's webcast at http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/ Click on the last link (FLL/Einstein). Our runs will be on Friday at 10:25, 11:50 and 2:05 Central Time. Don't be late because the runs are only 2.5 min. long!!

World Festival Day 1

Alright everyone! We will be updating you every night as to what we are doing each day!

So, for day 1. We set up our pit, met some other teams, and ran out robot a bit. Our pit is almost complete, we were missing some pipes for our frame, and when we did get the pipes, we had 3 minutes to leave the pits. (We will finish that tomorrow.)

Tomorrow we will have our judging sessions, and will run our practice robot runs!

I'll try to get pictures soon.

Internal Compiler Errors?! FIXED! (sorta)

Yep... more errors, in '08 it was File errors..... '09 we got off easy. Now it's Internal Compiler Errors. After some research it sounds like it's NXT-G error 5005. One that people don't know how to fix. BUT.... instead of spending more time figuring out the problem and fixing it, we decided to bypass the problem completely by separating one mission out of our Mission Organizer (MO) and leaving it in a separate program. We're not 100% positive what the problem is exactly but it has something to do with having a certain number of blocks in the MyBlocks. Because it worked if we removed the last several blocks in a program, but this of course wouldn't do. So we went with the above "fix"

We have a possible 375 points, but also need some more practice. :/

~Calvin, excited for next week, yes, NEXT WEEK!!-
